Alright, let's break this down. I made a video years ago—probably around 2017—telling regular people that no serious developer would touch Ethereum with a 20-foot pole, because onchain contracts were immutable. I can't even find that video anymore. Fast forward to 2026. Most DeFi platforms, coins, and chains aren't doomed because of immutability, or even the friction of redeploying on upgradeable default chains or EVM proxy contracts. They're failing because the people maintaining them are literally installing bugs. Here's the thing. A dev once told me, anonymously, that there are plenty of creative ways to pay open-source devs for free work. I asked why Solana's core Rust developers weren't being paid more. That was the answer. And honestly? Most hacks I knew about days in advance when I was still being considered for the cabal. Raydium. Solsteads. Others. I knew before they hit. Read that twice. You should read it again. I'm fully convinced Zcash wasn't a mistake—its build timing and peak were beautifully aligned. Same goes for every hack your timeline is screaming at you about. History won't look kindly on us. The ones who started wanting to make the world better, but ended up feeding this broken machine instead.
